• Thanks to Exchange Lincolnland Immediate Past President Bill Van Keuren and his wife Madeline from Mattoon for visiting and updating the club on various district activities. Van Keuren said he was very impressed with the ACE Award winner from the tri-cities, Catharine Steiner, who won a $2,500 scholarship at the state level and is under consideration for a national scholarship worth $10,000. For more information about the Lincolnland District, visit www.lincolnlandexchange.org.

 • Don’t forget the club meets at Riverwoods tomorrow at 7 a.m. The address is 35W624 Riverwoods Lane in St. Charles, off Route 25 north of town. Fox Valley Christian Action Executive Director Jay Curtis will update the club on the camp and FVCA’s other outreach programs.

• Thanks to Bob Engel for his year of service as club president. Job well done.

• Tim Sullivan will represent the club at this year’s National Exchange Convention. Tri-cities Exchange will pay $500 to offset expenses.

• Exchange volunteers distributed approximately 3,600 flags during this year’s Swedish Days parade in Geneva, a new record for the club.

• The club will be represented at CASA’s annual golf outing again this year on Aug. 24.

• Jim Townsley forwarded a check for $150 earned by Exchange volunteers who manned a Chamber of Commerce tent during Swedish Days. Thanks to Jim, who is moving to Grand Rapids, Mich., and will be leaving the club.

• The Changing Children’s Worlds Foundation is raffling off a children’s playhouse, donated by John Hall Custom Homes. Tickets for the fundraiser are $20 each, and only 1,200 will be sold. The winning ticket will be drawn Sept. 19 at CCWF’s Jazz in the Pavilion fall fundraiser in Pottawatomie Park. CCWF offers counseling for families based on empathy-based guidelines for communications, interactions and relationships between parents and children. For more information, contact Kim Svevo-Cianci.

• The club needs another volunteer to  work with corporate sponsors who appear on the club’s banner. Corporate sponsorships, at $500 each, are a major source of revenue for the club. See Rich Rohlfing for more information.

• Our own Scot Warren is running for the national office of Exchange Region III Vice President. Good luck, Scot.

Thanks to volunteers from the Tri Cities Exchange who helped out at the Naperville club's annual Ribfest event earlier this month.

Wishing Farewell to wade and Betty

St. Charles Mayor Ray Rogina reads a proclamation (at right) honoring Wade and Betty Weisman, long-time Exchange stalwarts, who are moving to Virginia. The two also were honored at a farewell dinner earlier this month, and will be very much missed by their many friends in Exchange and the community at large. (Photo by Brian Henry)
