Mutual Ground - “Where the Healing Begins”

Mutual Ground is an organization that provides the local area of Aurora, southern Kane County and Kendall County with information and a safe haven for people suffering of domestic and sexual violence. One service that is provided is a 24-hour hot line where around 2000 calls are made every month. They not only provide assistance over the phone but provide resources on their website. Some resources help answer questions and clarify misconceptions while other resources provide information on safety plans and guides to identify an abusive relationship. One of their main goals is to break the cycle of domestic abuse by advocating the prevention and intervention of violence and assisting those affected by it. Mutual Ground provides education and services and hosts events to help individuals, families and communities become more aware of domestic and sexual violence. They operate under five Core values: excellence, integrity, respect, empathy, and community. Mutual Ground also offers opportunities for people to get involved by becoming A hospital advocate, a hotline advocate, a child care advocate or helping in an administrative position. Mutual Ground is an organization that advocates the prevention, the intervention of domestic and sexual abuse and the ongoing support for the people affected by abuse.
